The Tourists in Athens at the Height of Summer

When August hits, tourists have the city to themselves.


It’s a strange scene for anyone visiting Athens in August as the city seems eerily quiet. The kiosks close, the roads empty and the city slows to a much more leisurely pace. As the locals abandon the city for their own vacations, visitors will find they have the city to enjoy before the pace of Athenian life picks up once more in September.
