King George Hotel: Royal Treatment

A boutique hotel with a unique charm and incomparable luxury

LOCATION

Syntagma Square, the heart of the city center

BACKGROUND

Since 1930, King George has been visited by kings, princes, heads of state and prominent personalities. Aristotle Onassis with Maria Callas, Grace Kelly with Prince Rainier of Monaco, François Mitterrand, Marilyn Monroe, Brigitte Bardot and Frank Sinatra are but some of the famous guests who have dined at its luxurious restaurant and have looked out on Syntagma Square while sitting on their suite’s balconies.

The building was originally meant as an annex to the palace and served briefly as the prime minister’s residence, before functioning as a hotel with the emblematic name King George. After remaining closed for several years, it was reopened and fully renovated for the 2004 Olympic Games, acquiring the grandeur it deserved and welcoming glamorous guests once more.

Today it represents a boutique hotel with a unique charm and incomparable luxury, harmoniously combining old elements with contemporary amenities. Since it’s located in the heart of the historical center of Athens, it is an ideal base for guests visiting the capital for business or luxurious pleasure. In the past eight years it has earned international distinctions and is listed among the 100 top hotels in Europe.
