Athens was found to be the top destination in the world in a new survey ranking cities based on visitor ratings.

The survey, conducted by money.co.uk, looked at the cities with the best ratings in hotels, restaurants, nightclubs and things to do. According to the data discovered, Athens appeared to be the best destination in the world, with 19.7% of hotels, restaurants, nightclubs and tourist attractions boasting a perfect rating.

The city stood out especially in the attractions category, with 44.1% of them gaining perfect ratings.

The second best destination in the world, according to this research, is Lisbon, which also scored very well in the sights category (40%). In third place is Florence. The best city in terms of hotels, meanwhile, is Los Angeles (with Athens in second place) and in restaurants are Brussels.

For nightlife, the Greek island of Rhodes won first place, as 37.2% of its nightclubs boast a top rating, while Athens comes in second.
