The four members of Coldplay send their fans into a frenzy as they take the stage at the Odeon a little before nine o’clock at night. “Are you ready to be famous?” asks Chris Martin. The words to the band’s new song, “Feels Like I’m Falling in Love,” which was recorded at the historic Odeon, are projected behind him. A few days ago, the film and pictures from the shoot were released. It was the day after the band’s first two Greek concerts, which took place on June 8–9. That Monday night, we participated in the band’s new music video for their album “Moon Music” (to be released on October 4), giving us and many other fans of the band the chance to enjoy a little bit more Coldplay.

The band members don jackets that flash with color as we enter the historic theater, and we each have glowing wristbands around our wrists. Passersby outside the Odeon pause to watch the light show and listen to the music. We have no contact with the outside world because we were asked to leave our phones in a secure location to avoid photos or videos from the shoot being leaked – which was ultimately futile. We patiently wait in line outside the “Dora Stratou” open-air theater to go through security checks and place our phones in special bags, before making our way inside under the hot sun to see our favorite band. Some people sing “Viva La Vida,” while others complain about being unable to be away from their phones for too long. However, they seem to forget all about them when the band kicks off the music celebration.

Inside the theater, we all sing together and continue clapping when the music stops. When the cameras aren’t rolling, Chris Martin dances, engages in lighthearted banter, and invites a fan to join him in performing one of the band’s oldest hits .
“Feels Like I’m Falling in Love” plays at least five times, and each time, we try to sing louder than the playback. Immediately after the chorus’s first line, an audience member claps twice. The band’s frontman looks at him with excitement as an idea occurs to him. “This is what we are going to do: after ‘Feels like I’m falling in love,’ we are all going to clap twice.” We follow his instructions, and the outcome is electrifying.
Chris Martin laughs and jumps for joy. “Now we have our own ‘Radio Ga Ga’,” he says, referring to the hit song by the popular British band Queen. He kneels on the ground, bows and says “Thank you” in Greek. What exactly will we see in the video clip? We will just have to wait and see.
