Record Year for Greece – TUI’s Top 10 destinations

The German travel company expect to bring 3 million visitors to Greece this year, official said.

Demand for holidays in Greece is reaching never before seen heights, say TUI, reporting that the country remains one of their most popular destinations. “Crete, in particular, is setting a new record, but there isn’t one Greek destination or tourism sector that’s not in high demand right now,” Director Communications Aage Duenhaupt commented to Athens News Agency on Sunday.

Overall, the TUI Group is expected to bring circa 3 million visitors to Greece this year – a number that exceeds pre-pandemic levels (2,8 million).

Specifically, the 10 destinations most popular with TUI’s customers are:

  • Crete
  • Rhodes
  • Kos
  • Corfu
  • Peloponnese
  • Macedonia
  • Santorini
  • Zakynthos
  • Karpathos
  • Mykonos

Bookings for the months of September and October have also been increasing rapidly over the last few weeks, supporting TUI’s expectations for another strong fall. Already last year, October proved one of the most successful months for bookings in Greece.

As Duenhaupt emphasized, TUI’s decision to kick off travel to Greece earlier this year proved a good move. Cruise tourism in the country, he added, also continues to increase: “The Greek islands,” he said, “are especially popular among our customers interested in cruises.”

Another positive development, the director added, is that Greece is now their number one destination for luxury travel. “Our luxury travel offers for this summer are almost completely sold out. Over the last years, Greek hoteliers have invested in their facilities, and plenty of beautiful resorts have been created. Completely new ones have been built too. These investments are now paying off,” he concluded.
