Most people are aware of Giannis Antetokounmpo’s heroics as this season’s Most Valuable Player in the NBA, but not everyone is familiar with his altruism and public spiritedness off the court. Along with his brothers Thanasis, Kostas, Alex and Francis, the basketball star founded the AntetokounBros Academy three years ago, and the new season has just been launched.
Through this innovative project, the Antetokounmpo brothers are giving back to the community by providing young people from underprivileged backgrounds with hope and an opportunity to realise their dreams. The academy provides free basketball training sessions, workshops, talks, and scholarships.

In collaboration with Nike, the Onassis Foundation and the Eurohoops Organization, the academy embraces youths from diverse backgrounds and vulnerable social groups. Differences are turned into unity and strength as the young athletes work together to become one team.
The program of the latest season at the AntetokounBros Academy was recently launched amid smiles, excitement, and a passion for basketball. The coaches welcomed the newcomers, while Head Coach Evina Maltsi spoke to the young athletes about the objectives of the program, the educational actions, and the range of available scholarships.
Basic basketball techniques and strength training exercises form an important part of the training program, which is designed based on the level and potential of the participants. But basketball training is not the only thing taught within the program: strong personal ethics and an athletic mindset are also conveyed.
Above all, the goal is to have a good time.
