Athens’ first illustration festival, illustradays, returns for the second time in September after a successful first installment last year when, despite the pandemic, over 150 artists showed their work to over 3.5 thousand visitors.

A press release for the festival promises a program containing exhibitions, workshops, inspiring talks by experts in the field, networking events, portfolio review sessions for aspiring artists – a colorful nine-day long event to be housed at the indoor and outdoor spaced of the Serafeio Athletic & Community Complex in central Athens.

In a few weeks, the festival will announce its theme for 2022, meant to inspire artists, through an open call, to create artworks that will be part of one of its three main exhibitions.

There will also be an exhibition of international works, selected to also highlight this year’s theme by artist and curator Gabriel Pacheco, created in collaboration with Fondazione Zavrel and Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Atene, and an exhibition dedicated to favorite Greek children’s books and the illustrators who defined the field, curated in collaboration with the Greek Section of International Board on Books for Young People.
