Greek Tourism Brings Down Joblessness

Greek tourism's apparent return to 2019 levels has created high numbers of new jobs, at least for the summer period.

In an interview on Open TV, Tourism Minister Vassilis Kikilias highlighted the significant effect of tourism in reducing unemployment, as shown by the latest data from the Ergani system.

As he explained, 124,365 new jobs were created in April, mainly thanks to tourism’s momentum.

“This is a 20-year high. Equally important is the fact that 60% of these new jobs are full-time,” Kikilias added.
