Ten Greek hotels have been included among the world’s leading hotels in 2016 by TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel site, based on reviews and opinions of its users. These Traveler’s Choice Awards rate hotels in six different categories.

The lion’s share of the Greek honors went to Santorini with six hotels making the lists. Two hotels in Rhodes also earned the distinction. The other two Greek hotels are in Halkidiki and Mykonos.

On the TripAdvisor list ranking the best 25 hotels in the world for 2016, fifth and 12th place went to Achtis Hotel in Halkidiki and Canaves Oia Hotel in Santorini respectively.

In its list of the top 25 small hotels worldwide, the Spirit of the Knights Boutique Hotel in Rhodes was ninth while the Enigma Apartments and Suites in Santorini came in 14 ^th.

In the category of world’s top budget hotels, Lithos by Spyros and Flora in Mykonos came 5th while Chez Sophie Rooms and Suites in Santorini was in 11 ^th.

As for the world’s top luxury hotels category, Lindos Blu Rhodes ranked 19^th, while in the corresponding list of the top inns and bed and breakfasts, Aenaon Villas in Santorini was fourth.

 In the category of top hotels worldwide for quality of service, Astra Suites in Santorini came in ninth place. Anastasis Apartments, also in Santorini, ranked 24 ^th.

Greece maintains a strong presence in the rankings of the best hotels in Europe as well. In particular, Achtis Hotel in Halkidiki ranked second in the 25 top hotels in Europe category, ahead of Canaves Oia Hotel in fourth and Trapezaki Bay Hotel in Kefalonia in 15^th.

The Spirit of the Knights Boutique Hotel ranked fourth among Europe’s top 25 small hotels. Enigma Apartments and Suites followed in seventh ahead of  Santorini’s Anastasis Apartments in 12th.

Lithos by Spyros and Flora came third among Europe’s leading budget hotels with Chez Sophie Rooms and Suites in seventh. Lefka Apartments in Chania, Crete was ranked 19 ^th.

In the European list of the 25 top luxury hotels, Lindos Blu ranked fifth, followed by the Casa Delfino Hotel and Spa in Chania in 14 ^th and Andronis Luxury Suites Santorini in15 ^th.

Astra Suites in Santorini ranked fifth among European hotels in the best service category with Anastasis Apartments in 11^th ahead of Achtis Hotel in 20^th.

In the corresponding list of the top 25 European inns and bed and breakfasts, Aenaon Villas in Santorini occupied fourth place.
