Following in the, ahem, footsteps of two-time MVP and current NBA champion Giannis Antetokounmpo of Greece, this country’s most successful tennis professional, Stefanos Tsitsipas, now has his own signature sports shoe as well.
Tsitsipas’ apparel sponsor Adidas has created a pair of tennis shoes in blue and white – the colors of the Greek flag – that also bear the likeness of the current world no. 3 on the shoe’s tongue (similar to the portrait of American tennis legend Stan Smith, on the iconic shoe that bears his name) and a Greek flag on the inside of the shoe, as well as the player’s name, written in gold, on the quarter panel. Other details resemble that of the brand’s popular Superstar design.

Tsitsipas announced the launch of the shoe with the tweet: ” It’s been months in the making and I’m glad to announce I have my face on an @adidasoriginals shoe!” He also posed with a cardboard sign saying “Guess who has his face on a shoe?”, referencing one of his heroes, “Dude with Sign” Seth Philips, whom he met earlier this year.
At present, Tsitsipas is competing at Indian Wells in California, where tomorrow he will face Australian Alex de Minaur for a place in the quarterfinals.
