While the chaotic situation at many European airports remains, with long delays, lines and lost luggage being the main concerns of passengers, Greek airports are still reporting high numbers of arrivals, with very limited problems.
An analysis by holiday rental search engine Holidu, based on the average Google rating and number of reviews, the airport in Europe with the best reviews right now is the Athens International Airport. Reports describe the situation at the “Eleftherios Venizelos” airport as miles better than that of airports in most European cities right now.

Placing as the number 1 airport in their list of the best reviewed airports in Europe, it was reported to have a 4.4 rating from 24,467 reviews on Google. “It’s official!” the report stated: “The Athens airport is Europe’s best! The biggest and most famous airport in Greece, Eleftherios Venizelos is located 33 kilometers from the city center. Greece was relatively unaffected by the European chaos at airports, with most delays observed taking place at departure airports with flights to the country. Is your flight delayed? You may then check your bags into luggage storage, use the airport waiting areas, or visit the archeological exhibits, and a large number of restaurant and cafés.”
The Athens International Airport was followed by the Zurich Airport in second place, and the Porto Airport “Francisco de Sá Carneiro,” in third place.
The Thessaloniki Airport “Makedonia” also paced high, as the 11th best reviewed airport in Europe.
Noteworthy is that one Greek airport, the Heraklion airport “Nikos Kazantzakis,” on Crete, placed among the lowest ranked airports in Europe, while most other regional airports in Greece are reporting record-breaking numbers of passenger arrivals, and mostly smooth sailing.
