Basing their results on the votes of thousands of travelers from 82 countries, European Best Destinations (EBD) have presented their list of the 22 best beaches in Europe in 2022.

While Porto Santo Beach in Portugal scored highest and was named the Best Beach in Europe in 2022, no less than four Greek beaches are also featured on the list.

Much less known than most of the beaches featured, Monolia Beach on the islands of Lichadonisia, a tiny archipelago near the coast of Kammena Vourla, placed sixth. The uninhabited Lichadonisia are known locally as the “Greek Seychelles,” and make a wonderful daytrip from the mainland.

In eighth place, EBD named the more famous Elafonisi, in the Hania region on Crete, known for its pink sand. Porto Katsiki on Lefkada, with it’s sparkling turquoise water and bright white cliff backdrop, placed as number eleven, while another lesser-known gem, Aghios Konstantinos on Astypalea, also made the list at number thirteen.
