These days when Greece appears in the Economist, it’s rarely a harbinger of good news. But according to a recent article in the paper, tourism in the country is in “rude health” and on target to easily beat last year’s record of 30m tourists.
The paper writes that the largest increases are expected to be in the number of British, German, and Russian tourists, although notes that on average visitors are staying fewer days and consuming less than a dozen years ago, indicating that their own disposable incomes may be feeling a pinch.

Nevertheless the Economist notes that after seven years of recession, prices on even popular islands like Corfu and Crete are low, and compare favourably with those in other destinations such as Spain. The article concludes with the forecast made by travel experts that sees the number of tourist arrivals in Greece rising to 40m by 2022.
Fortunately Greece has plenty of destinations for all to find their own personal peace (or parties). Here, for instance, are just 10 lesser known destinations for a great vacation.
