EasyJet: Greece in High Demand this Summer

Budget airline EasyJet reports soaring demand for flights to Greece this summer, rapidly approaching pre-pandemic levels.

EasyJet is reporting booking numbers for the current financial quarter at approximately 90% of 2019’s figures (the last “normal” year before the pandemic), with the UK-based airline finding strong demand for Greece. It is estimated that the airline will bring the most travelers to the Greek islands this summer.

“The leisure destinations – the itineraries to the beaches – are doing very well for us. These traditional Mediterranean destinations are doing very well,” EasyJet CEO Johan Lundgren told reporters, according to Bloomberg.

Budget airline Ryanair has also forecast strong traffic for the summer, despite rising inflation and living costs pushing household incomes.

The company estimates that its losses decreased in the six months ended March 31 to 535 to 565 million pounds (GB Sterling), from 701 million pounds in the same period last year.
