Leafing through “Colorific Greece,” a stunning new photo tribute to the country’s palette and famous natural light, you will be instantly transported to the essence of Greece. From the blinding walls of a whitewashed island church to the blazing saffron that spreads across a sunset sky, the book is photographer Miltos Kourboglou‘s visually evocative love letter to his homeland, approached with an innovative spirit and creativity. The accompanying abstract texts by author Konstantina Tassopoulou compliment and accentuate the images.
How did the the idea for “Colorific Greece” come about?
MK: Several years ago during a business meeting abroad, I was asked to offer a brief presentation on the elements that characterize Greece and its people. I closed my eyes and to my great surprise I realized that anything connected with the country in my memory was first a color and feeling and then an object or event. From that very moment, color became both my sole inspiration and photographic tool with which I tried to describe all aspects of Greece and the Greek lifestyle.
Did you travel especially?
MK: Traveling all over Greece has been my longtime obsession and joy. In that respect, I had already collected relatively sufficient material. However, in order to fine-tune photos and text, I had to carry out some specific, focused trips. Each time I revisited a place I discovered new things. Specifically with color, nothing in Greece has a constant, stable hue.
What were you hoping to offer readers of the book?
MK: I have aspired to help readers rediscover my homeland. Greece is not just a summer destination with white sugar-cube houses and a clear blue sky. It’s a place full of character, captivating landscapes, history, culture and, above all, a realm of colors.
What is your favorite color?

MK: White, which is all the colors together.
