A Stunning Tribute to the Peloponnese

Britain's ABTA teamed up with regional authorities to hold their 2015 convention in the region.

This year’s ABTA Travel Convention which took place from the 12 to 14 of October 2015 has been declared a resounding success. Over 500 attendees including travel consultants, agencies, airlines and key players in the British tourism market were present during the three day event hosted at the Costa Navarino resort in Messinia, southwest Peloponnese.

ABTA is the UK’s largest travel association. Their stamp of approval has the ability to transform a region’s tourism market, and that’s exactly what the organizers had in mind when the Regional Authority of Peloponnese began talks with ABTA in 2013 to shine a spotlight on the area.

By July this year, tourism arrivals from Britain to Greece had soared by 29.3 percent to exceed 1.3 million. With ABTA’s backing, even better numbers are expected in 2016 as visitors discover for themselves the breathtaking travel experiences the country has to offer with the confidence of the ABTA brand’s backing. In the words of ABTA General Manager Mark Tanze, “The feedback we got was extremely positive and I’m sure many attendees will be visiting Greece again in the near future.”
