According to a recent article in the French daily newspaper Le Figaro, Patmos is among the most beautiful Greek islands travelers should visit this summer.
The article focuses on summer in Greece, featuring some of the country’s most beautiful islands, each of which caters to different needs, tastes, and interests.

For family holidays, the newspaper recommends Crete and Corfu; for those who prefer sports tourism, it recommends Milos and Kalymnos; for beautiful landscapes, it recommends Chios and Rhodes; while, for those who want a quiet and peaceful vacation, it recommends Syros and Patmos.
Le Figaro describes Patmos as the “Jerusalem of the Aegean,” noting that it is “the ultimate haven for quiet solitude where Aghios Ioannis the Theologian wrote the Book of Revelation. An ideal place to recharge your batteries, the island boasts a myriad of beautiful beaches and places of worship.
A total of 51 beautifully decorated monastery complexes, churches, hermitages and monasteries combine to give Patmos a unique spiritual aura. In the evening, residents and tourists meet at the square of the island’s main port, Skala, or at the square of the island’s capital, Chora, that sits atop the hill to share moments of relaxation and fun in an idyllic atmosphere.”
Moreover, another highly respectable international publication, the UK’s Reader’s Digest, also recommends Patmos to its readers for their summer holidays this year. According to the article, Patmos is Greece’s Holy Island, steeped in mystical energy. Hiking, local cuisine and exceptional tourist services create a unique destination for those who are looking for quality in their travel.
“During the Easter period, accommodations reached 100% occupancy, while the outlook for the upcoming summer months is very positive. Patmos is a multifaceted island – there are many things to discover – an aspect that we also highlight in our campaigns,” says the Municipality’s Deputy Mayor of Tourism, Nikos Koutouzos.

It’s worth noting that both articles featuring the “Island of the Apocalypse” were the result of journalistic visits that were organized with the initiative of the Municipality of Patmos.
