While the Greek beaches make our hearts swoon, there are some summer days that call for another type of water fun. On days when the wind whips the sand into the air, when sun beds are hard to find, or when we feel like doing something different, that’s when we head to the water parks.

Europeans love a slide – that’s one of the takeaways one can make from a recent study by online bathroom retailer Showerstoyou, which aimed to rank the water parks in Europe according to online reviews, and found as many as 852 parks in 29 countries.

The highest rated park, according to the research, was UK’s Dorset Adventure Park, followed by the Siam Park in Spain and the Aquapark Istralandia in Croatia. Greek parks, meanwhile, featured three times in the top 20.

Placing as the best ranked park in Greece and the 8th best in Europe among the 852 is Water Park, on the island of Rhodes. Located in Faliraki, with free bus transfer from Rhodes Town, Kiotari, Lindos, Pefkoi and Kolymbia, the park is a popular destination among tourists to the island, and is a receiver of Tripadvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best Award in 2022. Besides being one of the largest waterparks in Europe, it boasts an impressive number of attractions for adults and kids of all ages, including everything from classics like their wave pool and pirate ship, to extreme slides like their vertical Kamikaze slide and the Space Bowl.

Also in the top 20, according to the study, are the Aqualand Corfu Waterpark, another Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best destination equipped with a total of 51 slides and pools, and Star Beach, by the beach in busy Heronissos, Iraklio, Crete, which features daily foam parties, water sports and bungee jumping, ranking 18th and 19th, respectively.
