International Kalamata Music Days, an annual festival of classical and jazz music, returns this summer with a plethora of performances by local and global music artists, including the newly founded Kalamata Festival Orchestra, the Boccherini String Trio, Enrico Pieranunzi, the Azahar Ensemble, Vasilis Varvaresos, and many more.
The festival, which will run from June 25 to August 2, was first launched in 2017 by cellist Indira Rahmatulla, who serves as the Artistic Director, composer Stathis Giftakis, and cellist Dimitris Lampos. The program include music concerts as well as lectures and educational masterclasses.
On June 25, audiences will have free entrance to the Municipal Conservatory of Kalamata to experience the world premiere of composer Fani Kosona’s “Narrative,” followed by a lecture on extended techniques on the violin.
On the first day the Museum Garden will also present the Victoria Karelia Collection of Greek Costumes and a piano masterclass concert.

The Festival is organized by the Municipal Conservatory of Kalamata and the Faris – Kalamata Municipality Beneficiary Organization, with the support of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports.
Its main mission is to educate, inspire and engage audiences of all ages, encourage international music collaborations, showcase the work of talented artists, and to promote the concept of music as important for the community at large.
