Travel blogger Lucy Tranos (@lucyinthesskyy), who is currently in Greece reveals a “behind the scenes” shot from Santorini on her Instagram account. She doesn’t discourage people from visiting the island, but gives some helpful tips; visitors should wake up early and head to Oia before 7 o’clock in the morning if they wish to enjoy it without the crowds, or alternatively, pay visits to the island’s less famous villages.

“Oia is one of the most beautiful towns in the world though so no wonder it attracts so many ppl! Would you wake up early to see the Oia without the crowds?!” she writes.
Tranos has now visited Santorini three years in a row, and has noticed the island getting busier each time. “It was nice to see it empty in 2020 but def not the case currently..” she describes. “If you want to experience Santorini with peaceful and more authentic vibe you should def stay away from the ‘hot’ photo spots mentioned and get lost in the alleys OR stay in unique and exclusive properties in Oia where you can enjoy the gorgeous views from the privacy of your villa and also visit other villages like Imerovigli, Mesaria, Megalochori and Fira which are always less busy!”
