Paros Tourism Soars to New Heights

May arrivals to the island surpass 2019 levels by 60% for tourists and 46% for flights.


Tourist arrivals in the Cycladic Island of Paros have reached a spectacular rise, with the island registering the highest numbers of tourists and air passenger arrivals in May.

According to official data, 13,094 visitors arrived on the island on 261 flights, while in the corresponding month of 2019 the number of visitors was at 8,319 on 178 flights.

 

Specifically, according to data from the Paros Port Authority, 46,495 people, 4,476 cars, 1,216 trucks and 968 two-wheelers arrived on the island in May 2022, compared to 43,516 people, 3,604 cars, 970 trucks and 941 two-wheelers that arrived in May 2019.

Ferry arrivals in May also rose by 7% in comparison to May 2019. The arrival of 22% more personally owned cars this year indicates an intention for a longer stay on the island.  

In a recent statement to the press, Paros Mayor Markos Kovaeos stressed that “the results we have seen so far in terms of arrivals and bookings mean that the efforts we’ve made throughout the previous period have been successful and perfectly targeted. We have been emphasizing the alternative features and qualitative upgrade of the island, which have served as key attraction factors to ensure a long and fruitful tourist season.”
