In its article on the best Greek islands to visit in 2022, the popular website Woman & Home has listed Crete as the ideal destination for the whole family.
“Crete is Greece’s largest Island and has got everything you could want from a European holiday: stunning beaches, excellent resorts, incredible scenery, bucolic villages and a long, fascinating history,” the article notes.

According to APE-MPE, the list includes Ios for its wonderful hiking trails, fewer crowds, and breathtaking views overlooking the Aegean. Corfu is listed for its magnificent architecture and Hydra as the ideal luxury getaway. Rhodes, Lesvos and Chios are recommended as the most suitable islands for couples, with their quaint towns, local cuisine, and opportunities for off-the-beaten track adventure. Dreamy beaches are best enjoyed on Naxos, while Mykonos is ideal for its nightlife and the beautiful Chora. The list then takes us to the unique island of Astypalea, for its laid-back atmosphere, and Zakynthos, recommended as the ideal destination for photos.
The list concludes with awe-inspiring Santorini and Skiathos, which is noted for its family-friendly beaches, and Kos, which impresses with its rich history and archaeological sites.
“We try to turn the crisis into an opportunity, highlighting the Ios of romance, activities, gastronomy, culture and fewer crowds. The other face of the island is gradually gaining the attention of international and domestic travelers, especially in the post-covid era,” said the Mayor of the Municipality of Ios, Gkikas Gkikas, in response to the article.
Sustainability, authenticity, relaxation but also innovation, are the components of the travel experience in Astypalea. “We are creating a new dynamic as seen from the increased arrivals of 2021 and we are receiving new distinctions in the context of creating a model ‘green’ destination that preserves our traditional island identity,” noted the Mayor of Astypalea, Nikos Komineas.
“The endless beaches, the picturesque villages and the alternatives in Naxos are the best escape from everyday life. It is our honor that the female traveling public shows its preference for the largest island in the Cyclades, and is responding to our actions,” said the Deputy Mayor of Tourism of Naxos and Small Cyclades, Vangelis Katsaras.
