Cycladic Island of the Day: Multi-Faceted Folegandros

Folegandros' relaxed atmosphere makes it the ideal destination for travelers of all ages. Find three tips for your trip here.

What if there are northerly winds and no boats to the beaches?

Take this opportunity to walk and enjoy the calm waters at Vorina, which features amazing views of the vertical cliff on which Hora is built. The footpath (a 30-minute descent) begins approximately 3km after Hora in the direction of Ano Meria, just next to the sign indicating “Vorina”.

What’s a good place for breakfast?

In Pouda square, the homonymous restaurant (Tel. (+30) 22860.41063), featuring a lovely patio on one side and tables out on the square on the other, offers fruit salads, fresh juices, hearty sandwiches and delicious cakes. It’s a place you’ll want to linger.

And for bar hopping in Hora?

For beers in the early hours, all roads lead to Laoumi (Tel. (+30) 697.273.9713). Another good place to begin is at Ydrohoos (Aquarius) bar (Tel. (+30) 22860-41319) for cocktails, or at Astarti for rakomelo (warm raki with honey). Then swing by Beez (Tel. (+30) 697.286.2792) and continue to BeRaki  (Tel. (+30) 697.271.2287) for drinks. Everything is pretty low-key, but Patitiri (Tel. (+30) 22860.41504) sets itself apart with great dancing opportunities.
