The Queer Archive Festival in the city of Athens brings together Greek and international artists, film-makers, curators and activists in a city-wide celebration of queer arts and culture. This year’s festival, once again supported by the Stegi – Onassis Cultural Foundation, follows on from the hugely successful inaugural event in February 2020.

For four days from June 3-6, the Queer Archive Festival will take place at a variety of performance spaces in Athens, from the National Garden and Pedion Areos Park to galleries and cinemas, and is open and accessible to all.

Video installations, exhibitions, walks, discussions, and performances are focused on encouraging creativity and reflect the modern LGBTQIA+ culture by creating hubs that embrace diversity.

The video installation “Life Guarding” by renowned German photographer Wolfgang Tillmans, the photographic series “Rooftop lovers” with LGBTQIA+ couples by the celebrated Greek director Vasilis Kekatos, the “Drag Bus Tour” around Athens with live performances by local drag queens and a tribute to the “hyperpop” diva and recently deceased music visionary Sophie are among the events on this year’s program.
