After the announcement from Delta Air Lines of two daily flights from New York’s JFK Airport in New York and one from Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Hart, all direct to Athens, American Airlines declared that it was reconnecting with Athens International Airport, too, with daily routes scheduled from three major US cities.

Tom Lattig, Managing Director of EMEA Sales and Director of Corporate Programs at American Airlines, speaking to “Money Review,” stated that daily flights from JFK Airport, as well as the restart of Athens – Chicago (ORD) daily connection, are scheduled to begin on June 4th. What’s more, American Airlines are also announcing the resumption of flights between Athens and Philadelphia (PHL) as of August 17th.

“American Airlines is looking forward to reconnecting Greece and the United States this summer. Greece has long been a popular leisure destination for American tourists who want to enjoy the beautiful landscape, culture, history, food, and traditions of mainland Greece and the Greek islands,” he said.

Tom Lattig mentioned the alliance between American Airlines and the low-cost airline JetBlue Airways, a relationship which offers their passengers greater connectivity and access to the biggest network in the northeast US. For those who plan to travel in Europe, the alliance offers connectivity in interchanges such as London Heathrow, Dublin, and Madrid Barajas airports.

Different types of Boeing aircrafts, equipped with HEPA filters which renew the cabin air every 2-4 minutes and filter out 99% of the COVID-19 particles, will be used for the scheduled routes.
