Tsitsipas Beats Rublev For His First Masters 1000 Title

Greek tennis sensation, Stefanos Tsitsipas, defeats Andrey Rublev to claim his sixth ATP title and first Masters 1000 title in Monaco.

World No. 5 Stefanos Tsitsipas has beaten first-time Masters finalist Andrey Rublev in the Monte Carlo final on April 18. After claiming six ATP finals and losing the previous two Masters titles, Tsitsipas writes a new chapter in Greek tennis history with his win in the Principality.

In the final, the 22-year-old player toppled Rublev 6-3, 6-3 in 71 minutes, beating the Russian for the fourth time in seven encounters. Tsitsipas dropped ten points in nine service games, never facing a break point and mounting the pressure on Rublev’s side of the court.

Tsitsipas capitalized on the Russian’s mistakes and converted all three of his break points. This granted Tsitsipas a well-deserved victory, who promptly started a massive celebration with his family. This is his first title after winning the ATP Finals in 2019.
