Greece has gained yet another admirer, and a major one at that.

Aubrey Drake Graham, the chart-dominating Canadian rapper and songwriter known more commonly simply as Drake, rapped that he would “fly you out to Greece” during a recent live Instagram session previewing some of his new songs.

According to Forbes, the 31-year-old Drake is the fourth richest rapper in the world, having earned more than $250 million since 2010 before taxes and spending.

The live Instagram session followed the release of the artist’s commercial mixtape Dark Lane Demo Tapes which comes ahead of the anticipated release of his sixth album in the summer of 2020. Among the previewed tracks was a snippet of the artist singing, “Come with me, fly you out to Greece.” 

His high-rolling lifestyle forms a key theme of the work, which includes such lyrics as “Rolls Royce baby, in hidden hills / Bags full of hunnid dollar bills,” and “Speedboats, baby, and naked beach / Waves in my ears, smokin’ weed (Wait, wait) / Whippin’ through the sand in a Jeep (Wait, wait) / All because of what I did on beats, baby.”

And amid his descriptions of multiple worldly pleasures, Greece takes center stage in the repeated line of the chorus: “Come with me, leave all of your things, yeah / You can stop at Gucci, stop at Louis V, yeah / Come with me, fly you out to Greece.”

The song is rumored to be titled “Greece” and may well appear on Drake’s next album. We don’t know if the rapper is planning an escape to the country after the end of lockdown, but the track will certainly raise the interest of his millions of fans in considering it as a travel destination.

And it might still be early days, but can we hope that Drake might film a music video for the song in the country – like fellow rapper Rick Ross did in Santorini?

In any case, we hope to spot the artist cruising the Greek seas in style in the near future.
