For art lovers eagerly anticipating the upcoming documenta 14, seeing the 2017 exhibition in its entirety just got easier.
For the first time in its 60-year history the world-renowned modern art event will be split between its traditional home in Kassel, Germany and Athens under the working title ‘Learning from Athens’. This move was the brainchild of the exhibition’s artistic director Adam Szymczyk and has the aim of creating a dynamic relationship between the two cities.

In order to facilitate this dialogue, Aegean Airlines has announced that it will be offering direct flights between the two cities, adding Kassel to its network of international destinations. In partnering with documenta 14, the company is the first to become an Official Carrier of the world-renowned modern art event.
From March 29 until June 23, Aegean will link Athens International Airport with Kassel with two flights per week. According to the company, it will transport 1,500 members of the international press to the opening of documenta 14 in Athens alone. Over the course of the exhibition (which runs from April 8 to July 16 in Athens), Aegean expects to transport over 8,500 attendees to the Greek capital.
“Aegean continues to realize initiatives that promote Greece as a destination and Athens as a dynamic cultural center, offering the opportunity to all those who desire it, to visit one of the greatest exhibitions in the world,” the company writes in a press release.
Aegean also plans to run a series of interactive experiences to raise awareness among the wider public about documenta 14 and its exhibits.
