OTE Group will be providing free Wi-Fi in 20 of Greece’s main archaeological sites and museums in collaboration with Ministry of Culture and Athletics.

The investment, valued at over 2 million euros, aims to promote Greece’s cultural heritage through technology and introduce an interactive experience for users to the sites.

The project is set to be gradually introduced and completed by 2017. Visitors to the Byzantine and Christian Museum in Athens and the Archaeological Museum in the Old Town of Rhodes already enjoy a free Wi-Fi service.

During 2016, the service will also be introduced at the following locations:

•The Acropolis of Athens
•Ancient Knossos
•The archaeological site of Delphi
•Sounion Archaeological area
•Museum of Royal tombs at Vergina
•Akrotiri Archaeological site
•Delos

Sites set to receive free Wi-Fi by 2017 are:

•The National Archaeological Museum
•Ancient Olympia
•The Archaeological Museum of Heraklion
•The Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki
•Acropolis of Lindos, Rhodes
•Ancient Epidaurus
•Mycenae
•Spinalonga
•Museum of Byzantine Culture, Thessaloniki
•Ancient Dodoni
•Ancient Corinth

OTE Group’s project includes the study, design and development of wireless infrastructure, the procurement of necessary equipment, operation and maintenance of networks and the free provision of services Wi-Fi for three years.
