Stolen Minoan Kouros Statue Valued at €1.3 million

The Police issued a statement a year after the arrest of four people in Crete on charges of illegally trading artifacts


A 30-centimeter kouros statue, depicting a youth praying, and dating to the Minoan period, has been valued at 1.3 million euros, according to a statement issued by police, nearly a year after the arrest of four people in the Cretan region of Siteia on charges of illegally trading artifacts.

The statue was valued by the members of a committee set up at the behest of the Culture Ministry.
