There are two in the area but only the later one, built in the 17th century, continues to operate. The earlier one was built into the rock in AD 963 and though abandoned, it is still fascinating. Some 800 meters downhill you will see an opening that leads to a small church which served during the Ottoman occupation as a secret school to preserve the Greek language and culture.

The museum boasts a fine collection of beautiful weaved and embroidered fabrics, ceramics, agricultural tools and home furnishings that educate visitors on the area’s customs, history, agricultural and daily life through the ages. The school hosts a large collection of gold, silver, copper and bronze objects that attest to Stemnitsa’s metal-working tradition.
The Open-Air Water Power Museum of Dimitsana, an award-winning initiative, was established in 1997 in an area that has traditionally utilized the waters of Lousios River with hydropower facilities. A fulling tub, flour mill, tannery, and gunpowder mill have been faithfully restored to highlight the role of water as an energy source in pre-industrial societies, while also offering a valuable educational experience for all ages.

Wedged between the sea and a fertile plain leading to the foot of the Arcadian mountains, the village Astros is located 4k from the sea. Its seaside district, also named Astros, is where most of the social life is centered, as it features tavernas and cafes, as well as beach bars that operate during the summer months. The Moustos wetland and the villages of Mount Parnon are located in close proximity.
Standing as one of the main villages of Mount Parnon, Aghios Petros is equipped with all the necessary tourism-related facilities – hotels, tavernas, cafes, a central square and shops offering traditional products. It serves as an ideal pit-stop for travelers heading to the well-known Malevi Monastery.
